A big Howdy from North TX! I am about seventy miles due north of Dallas. Any further and I would be standing in the Red River. Many years ago I decided to have a go at astronomy. One day while shopping at Walmart I saw a telescope on sale. It boasted high magnification with amazing photos on the box. I am always grateful for Walmart’s return policy. Months later I bought another one. It was a little bigger, a lot fancier, and did I mention Walmart’s return policy? Then a couple of years later I tried again. This was a 4” Reflector with a computer built right into it. Wow! I couldn’t see Neil’s foot prints so I sold it for half what I paid for it. (Didn’t get it at Walmart. Bummer!) Several years go by. I got deep into digital photography. The adventure polished my skills at researching and studying via the internet. So once again I get the astronomy bug but now thinking about astrophotography. I mean a camera is just a camera right? And a telescope is just a lens right?
I researched astrophotography for months before spending a dime. Considered my budget. I am now the proud owner of a Celestron 8” EdgeHD with AVX mount. And though I still can’t see Neil’s foot prints I can see and photograph amazing stuff. Been at for a little over a year now and lovin’ it. Many advise to use what you have to start so I mostly use my Nikon D90. I also have the D600 but have only used it for moon shots with my Tamron 150-600 lens.
Clear Skies and New Moons to everyone!
